Default Elementalist Vermin Farming?

Hi all, I'm just starting to farm Version (yea, I know, I'm slow ). I would like to try it with my Elementalist, and was wondering if the following build would work.

Earth: 12+1+3
Energy Storage: 9+1
Wilderness Survival: 9

Skills:

Glyph of Energy {E}
Earthquake
Aftershock
Ward of Stability
Troll Unguent
Armor of Earth
Earth Attunement
Serpent's Quickness

Gear: one that gives you +AL if enchanted, Insightful staff of Enchanting

With this build, you can keep up Ward of Stability at all times with Serpent's Quickness, so that they can't knock you down. Use Armor of Earth for extra armor. I hear Vermins do 0-3 damage on a warrior without AL bonuses, so with 120AL, I would probably be okay. The other big thing is degen, which I think Troll Unguent will be able to counter quite nicely.

Any suggestions/comments are welcome! Please keep in mind I've never actually farmed these before, all the information I have gotten is from reading the forums

Thanks in advance!

I think your basic idea is sound, but it needs some tweaking. I tried a couple of runs and found the damage was still a bit much to handle solely with Troll Unguent. So, I substituted Kinetic Armor for Armor of Earth to get the extra 20 or so AL. Of course, Troll Unguent doesn't work so nicely with Kinetic Armor because of the long activation time and because it's a skill; so, I brought Aura of Restoration instead. As long as you keep casting regularly, it's sufficient.

The other change I would suggest is revamping your damage lineup. I really like Sliver Armor against the Vermin; it just shreds them. Also, since the Vermin are melee, I would take Crystal Wave over Earthquake.

So, here's what I settled on:

Aura of Restoration
Crystal Wave
Teinai's Crystals
Sliver Armor
Ward of Stability
Serpent's Quickness
Kinetic Armor
Earth Attunement

Earth Magic: 16 (12 + 3 + 1)
Energy Storage: 11 (10 + 1)
Wilderness Survival: 8

It works well enough against clumped groups of Vermin, but if they trickle in one after another you tend to run out of health and/or energy. You need some luck to take out Shreader Sharptongue also, but it can be done.

Hey, that's a good build! Maybe bring Elemental Attunement instead of one of the damage spells so that you don't run out of energy?

Well, here is my build... Its a crazy build, but works :P

Skills:
Resilent Weapon
Earth Attunement
Aura of Restauration
Ward of Stability
Silver Armor
Wielder's Boon
Vengeful was Khanhei [E]
Armor of Earth

Attributes:
Earth Magic 16 (+3 +1)
Restoration Magic 12
Energy Storage 4 (+1)

Weapon: Galigord's Stone Staff

I don't think I have much to say about this build, especially if you already have some experience with vermins...

Cast Earth Att and Aura of Rest before Aggro. When the mob get close use Ward of Stability and Earth Armor. When the Aggro gets stabilized, use Silver armor And VwK (It's important to use silver armor before VwK, so it gains the 20% enchant bonus). When VwK ends, use Resilent Weapon.

Before fighting the boss, stay at the bridge, wait for the patrol to leave before entering:

When they leave, go in, and do the same sequence (ward - earth armor - silver - vwk). While the boss is still alive, use resilent weapon and wielder's boon whenever VwK is recharging.

Sometimes, when the spawn is bad, and silver armor takes a while to target the boss, i die, but there's a Shrine right behind the bridge, so there's no problem.

Its a little bit slower than warrior, but its funny :P

Btw, sorry about my crap english and text hehe

Yes, you're right; the build could definitely use an elite of some sort. Since Shockwave isn't a great improvement over the other PBAoE spells here, you may as well take Elemental Attunement. I would swap it for Earth Attunement, though, and keep all your damage spells, the reason being that because the Vermin are relatively low-level creatures and die fairly easily, you want to approach them with the mindset of killing them quickly rather than outlasting them.

Also, in looking over the build again, I realized that Aftershock is a better choice than Crystal Wave, because of its faster recharge and the fact that the Vermin's armor level is not great. So, now the lineup looks something like:

Aura of Restoration
Aftershock
Teinai's Crystals
Sliver Armor
Ward of Stability
Serpent's Quickness
Kinetic Armor
Elemental Attunement [E]

The attributes should remain the same.

I use Vengeful Was Khanhei frequently as well. Even without Arcane Echo, it's one of the most powerful farming skills in the game.

I might suggest that you don't overlap Sliver Armor and Vengeful Was Khanhei quite so much, however. The attacks that get blocked by Sliver Armor won't trigger Vengeful Was Khanhei, so you're making it 52% less effective. Also, Sliver Armor works better when the foes have been weakened somewhat, and since you're only going to get one use out of it per battle, you may as well hold it back until it can do the most damage. I would suggest putting it up right around the time that your first Vengeful Was Khanhei finishes.

Finally, I searched the forums and found only one other Elementalist farming build for Vermin. So, I figured I would post a few other builds here for the sake of variety, if nothing else. They are all quite similar, only really differing in the means of healing, the means of gaining back energy, and the knockout skill.

E/Rt

Vengeful Weapon
Vengeful Was Khanhei [E]
Sliver Armor
Aftershock
Teinai's Crystals
Ward of Stability
Kinetic Armor
Earth Attunement

Earth Magic: 16 (12 + 3 + 1)
Energy Storage: 4 (3 + 1)
Restoration Magic: 12

E/Mo

Aura of Restoration
Shield of Judgment [E]
Sliver Armor
Aftershock
Teinai's Crystals
Ward of Stability
Kinetic Armor
Balthazar's Spirit

Earth Magic: 14 (10 + 3 + 1)
Energy Storage: 9 (8 + 1)
Smiting Prayers: 12

Note: This might work better with Earth Magic 16 and Smiting Prayers 10; I can't remember what I was running.

E/R

Aura of Restoration (or possibly Magnetic Aura)
Edge of Extinction
Sliver Armor
Aftershock
Shockwave [E]
Ward of Stability
Kinetic Armor
Earth Attunement

Earth Magic: 16 (12 + 3 + 1)
Energy Storage: 4 (3 + 1)
Beast Mastery: 12

Any of these should allow you to kill a group of Vermin in less than 20 seconds, or take out Shreader Sharptongue and his group in less than 25 seconds (with a clean aggro). The E/Rt version is the easiest to run, and the E/R is the fastest (but the most difficult by far).

If there's any interest, I can post additional details.
